Our story

Owned and run by the Hemmes family for over 60 years, Merivale began as a fashion house that catapulted Sydney into the swinging-sixties for all thing's music and fashion. With a knack for creativity, “The House of Merivale” injected a new energy into the theatre of Sydney transforming the brand to what we know now as one of the largest leading hospitality empires in Australia.


Remaining true to our heritage, our aim is to bring a little magic into the everyday. We are constantly growing and pushing the boundaries in over 80+ venues to encapsulate a unique dining experience no matter where you go. Each space is carefully executed with the same attention to detail across a seemingly endless supply of inspired concepts, restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs, nightlife and retail.


The Role

We are in search of a hands-on HR Business Partner (People Partner) to join our close-knit team of bright and high performing People Partners based at our Head Office in the ivy Precinct.


Reporting directly to the People Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading the HR partnership within a Merivale portfolio and have oversight of all things people operations. Touching all aspects of the employee life cycle, your key contribution will be to coach and work with our people managers to drive the performance of their teams. Within your portfolio - no two days will ever be the same.  


This is for a true generalist, someone who thrives in a commercially focused environment and enjoys directly contributing to business success through driving people initiatives and ensuring people managers have the right tools and frameworks to lead and inspire their teams to create the best guest experience in Merivale venues every day.


Your success will come from quickly building a true understanding of the business, creating strong relationships with key stakeholders, working collaboratively with the wider HR team to provide solutions and the ability to balance value-add activities whilst having a solid grasp of compliance and day-to-day operational activities. Your knowledge and practical application of the most current ER legislation, understanding of visas and the immigration landscape will be highly regarded. Working knowledge of the Hospitality Industry Award and previous operational or HR experience in Hospitality or Retail are a definite bonus. You'll need to be influential, solution focused, operate with a sense of urgency, be able to challenge and ready to be challenged.
