The Role

The Senior Commercial Analyst at Merivale will play a crucial role in analysing and interpreting financial data to support strategic decision making and improve financial performance. The role will provide insights into the financial aspects of business operations to help drive profitability and growth.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that they are aligned with business goals and reflect accurate assumptions
  • Develop financial models and conduct scenario analysis to support key business decisions, such as pricing strategies, new ventures, or investments
  • Strong focus on the completeness and accuracy of monthly financial and performance results for delivery in line with agreed reporting timelines
  • Analyse complex financial data to evaluate the financial health of the business and identify opportunities for growth or cost savings
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business imperatives and key performance drivers that impacts profitability
  • Provide senior leaders with forward-looking insights, helping the company adjust to changes in market conditions or operational performance
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and department heads, including the translation of financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
  • Commit to the development of a uniform and standard form of data presentation supporting insights and storytelling
  • Act as a mentor to junior team members and guiding analysts on complex projects

About you

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years post undergraduate experience in a reporting role and/or technical role within chartered/commerce
  • Demonstrated experience in business partnering and commercial analysis
  • Experience in reporting platforms such as BI & Power query preferable but not essential
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of current accounting standards, financial modelling and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Excellent communication, financial storytelling, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, influence at various levels
  • Curious and analytical in approach
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to understand the finance teams processes and procedures
