We are in search for an exceptional Head of Applications to join our Technology team in our Head Office. 


The Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Merivale family, being responsible for maintaining, designing and support of Merivale’s applications within our everchanging world of hospitality. Work across a portfolio of some of Sydney's most iconic restaurants, bars and night spots including Establishment, Ivy, Coogee Pavilion and many more. 


Our Technology team provides effective technology leadership, strategy, and expertise through proactive engagement with the company and its partners, with the goal to deliver purposeful and reliable technology systems in line with the expectations and requirements needed across our venues.


The Head of Applications will be responsible for operational supervision of a team of IT specialists as well as strategic partners to oversee the effective management of systems operations and projects across multiple applications and systems. The role has a focus on database management, integrations and system/application operations.


Some core responsibilities include: 

  • Operational supervision of the Applications Team and Strategic Partners
  • Prioritisation of all work streams within the team
  • Building effective processes for common tasks
  • Scoping technology requirements for new and/or refurbished venues
  • Owning end-to-end delivery of in-use Applications
  • Level 3 Support for in-use Applications


This is a hands-on role as well as a strategic planning position.


We are after someone who has had exposure to working in a fast-paced environment and thrives in an ever-evolving business. As our industry is quick to react and adapt, we need someone who enjoys this!  


The Requirements 

To be successful in this position you will have: 

  • 5+ years working in a similar leadership role in a hospitality or retail environment
  • Experience with determining technology requirements for venues/sites, ie. Network, Servers, POS, WAPs, Phones, etc.
    • (IG POS and/or TASK POS preferred)
  • Experience delivering and installing above requirements in venue
  • 5+ years Application Development experience (While not a Dev position, this would be highly advantageous)
  • Have a relevant degree and leadership experience of a small team
  • Extensive experience in data management and application support
  • Expertise in information systems and associated integrations, with a passion for innovation and developments in technology 
  • Proven experience managing a team, including operations and project planning, enhancing service delivery, staff development, resource deployment, cost estimation and reporting
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
