Group Financial Controller

The Role

One of Sydney's best known, and largest private hospitality groups is seeking a Group Financial Controller to join the Finance department in Head Office. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continuing evolution and expansion of the business. This role will play a major part in leading a dynamic team overseeing the entire financial control function.

 

Reporting to the CFO you will provide strong operational support to the business. Key responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Operate as a financial leader in the business and support business leaders in setting operational direction and focus
  • Manage the continual evolution of processes, procedure and systems to deliver operational excellence​ while maintaining a strong control environment
  • Manage aspects of treasury including ensuring appropriate management of cashflow and banking relationships 
  • Understand and support all aspects around Tax and the various tax regimes
  • Take ownership of finance systems and influence the management of operational systems on which finance are dependent
  • Co-ordinate and manage the annual audit process with the intent to resolve all foreseeable issues in advance of year end
  • Oversee Financial Risk & Compliance activities
  • Meet all statutory and legal requirements with timely completion on deliverables
  • Lead process improvement for finance through identification of opportunities and work with the finance team, business and IT to identify solutions and deliver the improvement & simplification strategies

 

It is important this person also comes with strong financial knowledge, a hands-on approach and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders across the business. To be successful in this position, you will also have the following skills, knowledge and attributes:

 

  • CPA/CA accounting qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years post qualification, both commercial and FMCG/Retail experience will be viewed positively
  • Considered candidates will already be in a senior finance role in a medium to large organisation with FC experience viewed positively
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead and further develop the finance team in a manner that encourages them to strive for excellence  
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of current accounting standards
  • Commercial experience that can be applied to everything you do
  • Proven ability to provide a strategic and practical finance advice to the business
  • Customer service oriented and commercially astute - ability to engage and influence the wider Finance and Senior Management teams
  • Excellent communication skills and an enthusiasm to deliver results
