We are in search of an enthusiastic hospitality professional to join our Merivale Training Academy. 


The Role

We are seeking an experienced hospitality professional who is looking to step out from the Bar to join the Merivale Academy in being at the forefront of training and innovation.  If you are an industry professional who is serious about their craft, best in class standards, with relentless enthusiasm for hospitality, and passionate about the guest and shaping the talent of the future... this role is for you.


This would be perfect for someone who is looking to take that next step in their hospitality career- training and mentoring, with the opportunity to collaborate alongside top industry professionals.


Your duties will include:

  • the development, implementation, facilitation, monitoring and review of Merivale Beverage focused training programs in collaboration with Group Bars Manager and Learning & Development Partner.
  • maintaining and driving standards around product knowledge, service and sales skills, consistency, excellence, Merivale culture and guest engagement.
  • ensure the continued success of various trainings including Bartender Bootcamp, Merivale Academy, A-Z Spirits/Wines, Cicerone and WSET
  • content development and delivery of in-venue training
  • be the subject matter expert for all training streams and responsible for upskilling trainers within the team.
  • responsible for training feedback to direct managers on student performance
  • develop and maintain training materials and other training aids as required in collaboration with Group Bars Manager and PX.
  • creating monthly internal and external reports, driving annual reviews and audits, implementing improvements.
  • accountable for record keeping student files in accordance with requirements of Merivale.
  • driving innovation in content and delivery, and continuously improving our training systems.


You will have:

  • 5+ years extensive experience as a cocktail bartender in a high-end bar, fine dining restaurant or high-volume bar
  • a commitment to delivering a memorable guest experience
  • previous experience mentoring and training up staff and colleagues, knowledge of Training / VET would be highly regarded however not essential
  • intermediate MS Office experience
  • a positive, enthusiastic and confident nature
  • have good bar banter is a must!
