The Role
One of Sydney's best known, and largest hospitality group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its Head Office in the CBD. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth management of financial records and compliance with financial policies. You will play a vital part in maintaining accurate financial data and supporting the wider team in achieving operational excellence. The role will be to process, reconcile and review core financial information to support business decision making and financial growth. You will be responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate and robust reporting while positively contributing to the brand and culture of the team.
You need to be numerically competent, have a hands-on approach, the ability to identify errors and be self-motivated to meet deadlines.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager (Financial Control & Reporting) key responsibilities will include:
- Accurately process and record financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Maintain up-to-date and organised financial records in compliance with company policies and regulations, such as the Fixed Asset register.
- Perform regular bank transaction allocations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and financial records.
- Respond to financial queries from internal stakeholders.
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting the preparation of documentation for audits.
- Work collaboratively with senior members of the team to support their areas of responsibility.
The Essentials
- Proven experience in a similar role, with knowledge of financial processes and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail with analytical skills and accuracy in managing financial records.
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in financial data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in software and tools such as Excel; nice to have experience in SUN.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
