Behind the Beresford’s art deco exterior beats the heart of a neighbourhood pub with a modern-Italian trattoria. Located in Surry Hills lies this unique and vibrant pub, home to wood-fired pizza, homemade pasta, cocktails and a leafy, lantern-lit garden.

The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior sous or head chef looking for the next step in their career. The venue has a lot to offer with a large function space upstairs, a spacious courtyard, front bar and generous dining area. The venue can hold multiple events at one time and the restaurant gets busiest on weekday evenings and over the weekend.

The role would suit someone that enjoys Italian cuisine and is happy cooking pub classics.

This is a busy venue and would suit someone that has worked at a senior level, in a multi-faceted venue for a few years. You will have full accountability for the kitchen financials, developing and building your kitchen team, and keeping the product consistent. You will be working in a collaborative way with the Executive Chef who oversees multiple venues in the Merivale group, working on menu development and driving the product forward.


Our ideal candidate looks like the following:

  • Having high-volume service experience is a must.
  • Experience managing a team of 8-10 chefs .
  • A good understanding of  kitchen admin and financials.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment and lead by example.
