Work Health & Safety Advisor | Merivale
At Merivale, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Across more than 90 venues and a fast-moving hospitality environment, creating safe, supportive workplaces is essential to the experience we deliver for both our teams and our guests.
We are looking for a hands-on WHSW Advisor who specialises in systems & operations to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Safety, this role will be central to the day-to-day operation of Merivale’s safety systems, incident management processes and venue compliance programs.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys combining WHS knowledge with systems, data and operational problem-solving. You will manage our digital safety platform, review and triage incidents, coordinate inspections and corrective actions, and ensure our records and reporting provide a clear and accurate view of safety performance across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day administration and ongoing development of Merivale’s digital WHS platform, SafetyCulture.
- Build and maintain incident and hazard forms, inspection templates, corrective-action workflows, dashboards, user permissions and site structures.
- Review incidents logged across the business, ensuring reports are complete, accurately classified and appropriately prioritised.
- Identify serious and notifiable incidents and escalate them immediately to the Head of Safety in line with legislative requirements.
- Coordinate venue inspection and checklist programs, monitor completion rates and follow up on overdue actions.
- Maintain accurate WHS records and registers, including training, inspections, chemicals, safety data sheets, plant and equipment documentation.
- Partner with venue leaders, Group Operations Managers, People Experience, Technology teams and system vendors to improve safety processes and data quality.
- Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, strengthen reporting and continuously improve the WHSW management system.
The Essentials
- Approximately 2–4 years’ experience in a WHS Coordinator, Advisor or systems-focused safety role, ideally within a multi-site environment.
- A Certification in Work Health & Safety.
- Experience administering a digital WHS or EHS platform, including building forms, workflows, inspections and dashboards; SafetyCulture or iAuditor experience is strongly preferred.
- Sound working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and WHS Regulation 2017, including incident notification requirements.
- Strong judgement and confidence when reviewing, classifying, prioritising and escalating incidents.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records, registers and reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools will be advantageous.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to follow up stakeholders and drive actions to completion.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm and consistent in a fast-paced environment.
