Senior Financial Accountant | Merivale

We're looking for a Senior Financial Accountant in the Financial Control & Reporting team to play a critical role driving key Financial Reporting & Control processes. The role is responsible for supporting a team of Financial Accountants and Assistant Accountants accurately processing daily accounting information, month-end close processes, general ledger management, preparation of annual financial reports and responding to annual audit requests.
The Role
- Assist team of Financial Accountants and Assistant Accountants with technical accounting matters and day-to-day queries
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) across all relevant areas
- Drive completion of balance sheet reconciliation monthly cycle
- Support month-end processes, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries and preparation of monthly financial reports
- Strong focus on the completeness and accuracy of monthly financial and performance results for timely delivery in line with agreed reporting timelines
- Support the Finance Manager in the budgeting and forecasting process for the HQ Department cost centres, ensuring that the models and reporting reflect the agreed assumptions
- Preparation of external reporting including (but not limited to) the consolidated group statutory results
- Coordination of responding to audit queries during the external audit process
- Support the wider finance function in delivering gold standard financial information and analysis to the business

- Demonstrated experience in the financial reporting and control environment and understanding of key controls
- Strong technical skills including knowledge of current accounting standards and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Experience in preparation of financial statements including consolidation, cashflows and disclosures
- CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5-7 years post undergraduate experience in a reporting role and/or technical role within chartered/commerce
- Advanced level of Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
