We are looking for the next up and coming Assistant Operations Manager to join our Tennyson Hotel team.


The Venue

Located on Botany Road, a stone’s throw from Sydney’s Mascot Airport, Tennyson Hotel is an iconic art-deco pub.  This homey pub is ranked within the top 50 in NSW for its gaming performance and is a true local’s venue, with great pub classics on the menu and a strong sports focus.


The key to The Tennyson’s success has been our returning guests, which means we are looking for friendly bartenders who like to chat. Within this little Botany gem, we also have a drive through bottle shop which we love to get create with. So far, we have had massive success with Dirty Italian Disco, and now we are home to ACME pop up Kingdom of Rice.


The Role

This is the perfect opportunity for a up & coming Assistant Operations Manager to learn from a team of passionate hospitality professionals as well as be a part of one of Merivales most iconic locations. We are looking for someone who is committed to imbedding themselves in the team and venue, connecting authentically with the community.


We build teams who know how to deliver guest experiences like no other. Our leaders are expected to always drive the teams they support to create magical moments for every guest – big and small! 


In a nutshell, you will need to

  • Understand how to deliver exemplary guest experience. This incredible venue will feel warm and welcoming with a casual tone of engagement. Underpinned by knowledgeable, professional execution.
  • Lead & Coach a diverse team of people.  Ensuring that team culture is guest focused, community led, and sales driven.
  • Competency to drive the financial results of the department.  Be sales focused, create and lead the team to execute revenue initiatives. Demonstrate proven results in management of financial controls.
  • Passion for product. Support the extraordinary team of chefs and guarantee you and your teams have a detailed knowledge of the product.
  • Establish a healthy working environment for the team – enjoyable, educational, results focused and respectful.


We are looking for you to have:

  • 12 months previous Assistant Manager level experience, or 2+ years as a Team Leader and you are ready for the next step
  • Be aware of compliance needs and are community minded
  • Enjoy creating positive change and uplifing staff moral within your team
  • Are passionate about excellent guest experiences.
