The much loved, heritage-listed, Alexandria Hotel has been saved from the wrecking ball and we are excited to bring you Backyard at The Alex. With large outdoor communal tables, a basketball ring and frisbees you can expect to settle in with live entertainment and sport. The Alex is family and dog-friendly because our backyard is your backyard.
The Role
We are looking for a Head Chef to head up the team at The Alex. You will be joining a small team that delivers pub classics with a sprinkling of Mexican dishes. We are looking for someone who can drive the menu forward and continue creating simple yet flavoursome dishes, working alongside the executive chef. The venue consists mostly of communal outdoor seating and is a local favourite hang-out spot getting busiest in the evenings and on weekends.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef to take the next step in their career and join this fun and dynamic team, our ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- 3+ years cooking in a pub or bistro setting.
- Is currently in a head chef or sous chef position and has experience managing a small team.
- Enjoys working in a pub venue and creating dishes to the venue brief.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with great communication skills.
- Strong understanding of kitchen finances, food safety and staff training.
