The Role

We are looking for an accomplished Executive Chef to join the Events team and take our Events offering to the next level. This is an amazing time to join the team and really own the offering, putting your creative stamp on the food as well as working closely with the rest of the events team to bring our client’s vision to life.

Merivale delivers an exciting range of events and every day multiple events would be running across different venues. A special occasion for our guests is not just an event for us, it is an experience, and we ensure each event is extraordinary.  Most of these events are held in ivy and Establishment, with the remainder being integrated into our other venues, off-site or private events.

This is a senior leadership role where we will be looking to you to attract and develop an engaged kitchen team. In this role you will be expected to exceed guest expectations; this will be delivered through strong planning and menu development, excellence in event execution and quality product. Stakeholder management will be key, working closely with the events operations and sales team, senior management and be client-facing as required.

You will have full accountability of financials across the event kitchen operations, including labour, COG’s, forecasting and revenue growth. The role will also see you be a part of the Executive Chef team and work with them collaboratively to continually drive Merivale’s brand standards to be the best.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you are passionate about product and guest and have a focus on continuous improvement. You have a proven track record of leading high performing kitchen teams across multiple venues or events. Your success will come from your ability to build relationships quickly and an understanding of our events operations. You will need to be influential, solution focused with commercial acumen, operate with a sense of urgency, be able to challenge and ready to be challenged.
